An Idea That Became HairLume

It all started with the struggle to achieve the perfect sleek ponytail. For years, the struggle was real. All we wanted was an easy way to create a clean, sleek style without damaging our hair or spending too much time on it.

Finding the right hair products wasn’t as easy as we expected. We struggled to find a hair wax that provided the finish we wanted without leaving heavy residue, being difficult to wash out, or damaging and drying out the hair. We wanted something that felt comfortable, kept the hair moisturised, was easy to use, and wouldn’t leave the hair feeling weak or brittle.

 In Malaysia, we have family and friends who are Muslims and/or has vegan lifestyle. And for some, boar-derived materials are not permissible to their lifestyle or religion. Thus, creating a lack of suitable alternatives.

In 2025, we came up with HairLumé. Instead of continuing to search for the right products, we decided to create them.

So, we created our first high-quality sleek-back hair brush made with vegan bristles, providing the same styling experience without using boar-derived materials. We also developed a balm stick that keeps hair soft, shiny and effortlessly sleek all day except it is not vegan as it contains Beeswax.

No crunch. No flakes. No greasy residue. Easy Wash. Just sleek, manageable hair.

Though the R&D process took up most of our time, we had the products ready early this year, but after months of refining and perfecting every detail, we only managed to launch them around this time of year. And now, we’re so excited to finally share them with you all!
